Rome HOTELS-Marriott Grand Hotel Flora

Trying to find a Rome hotel thats "reasonable" for the price and I have some Marriott Points to use. Is the Grand Hotel Flora in a nice area, reasonable walking distance to all attractions?
Also considering the Grand Hotel de la Minerve or the Albergo Del Senato. Any other suggestions are greatly appreciated.

I am absolutely certain everyone here is going to tell you to stay at the Minerve....except me, that is.

The location is at the very top of the Via Veneto and a short walk to the Borghese Gallery (through the park) and you can take the underground walkway over to the Spanish Steps.

It is not as close to some of the other sights as the Minerve; it is on the Via Veneto which some people here have called "snooty" and "not the real Rome" and if you prfer somewhere more active such as the P. Navona you won;t like this quieter area either.

We stayed at the Marriott Grand Flora a few years ago. Easy walk to Spanish Steps and Trevi Fountain. We took cabs to the Vatican and Colliseum because we had scheduled tours. Later, we meandered back. It is a solid 30 -40 minute walk.

We also used points. The room small; but the price was right.

Thanks so much for your feedback.
I was really more concerned about the area being "safe", so it sounds like it's in a decent area and we should be okay with the Grand Hotel Flora.

We also used Marriott Points to stay in the Grand Flora. We found it to be very nice, everyone was so polite and helpful.. Especially the doorman Americus and the Consigerge Sorry I forgot his name but so funny.

Loved to eat on the Via Veneto outside watching everyone pass by. Hope you enjoy your trip. We will be in Rome the very beginning of June. Looking forward to it.

Ah, just found out Marriott Grand Hotel Flora doesnt accept rewards points for the dates I will be in Rome (Mid May), but still considering staying here because they have a 100 year ANNIV promo rate with breakfast and welcome gift, plus I can earn points for a future stay at another Marriott.

Where you stay in ROme will dramatically effect how you feel about it. If you stay to far out of town you won't get the feel for the City which is in fact very plesant. If yous tay n the toursit areas liek the Spanish steps or Trevi fountain etc etc. you'll think it's too touristy. Stay in the City a little away from tourism and you will love it. We stayed at Forty Seven Hotel which is close to the Capitolino/Forum area and pretty much on the main street near the
bridge (Palatine bridge) you would take to get to Trastavere. It was very close to the Forum and walking distance to many othe sites but not in the typical touristy hotel areas. A very nice hotel and reasonable. Trastavere is a real neighborhood and conpletely charming.

Well finally decided to stay at the Albergo del Senato instead of the Marriott. Did some research and this area (Pantheon) seems to be highly recommended. Would have chosen the Grand Hotel de la Minerve, but rates were too high and NO BREAKFAST included in rate!

Hi, Gail,

good choice by the sound of it. in rome as elsewhere, location is everything. we stayed in the monti area and loved it, but it wouldn't be my first choice - whereas teh pantheon area would.

good luck,

regards, ann

Good choice! Albergo del Senato is my favorite - for location & very friendly, helpful service.
