Once the search function returns (today? tomorrow?), you will be able to find the long list of posts here by countless people whi think highly of Albergo del Senato. Including my own posts, enthusiastic and posted more than once.

Best wishes,

Rex
You're very welcome. I would urge you to check out Fodors Rants'n'Raves - - www.fodors.com/miniguides - - but it's one of the fundamental flaws that a great hotel like del Senato is not listed there. Locarno is there - - I think that it sounds comparably good to del Senato to me. You can't go wrong with either one. I would still favor Senato for location - - but the location of Locarno is NOT a problem.

Best wishes,

Rex
Made up my mind, it's the Senato. Location is also a must for me because I don't have much time to spend in Rome so I need to stay in a central location. I saw the Fodors rants and raves but the Senato isn't there. Thanks again Rex

Teresa

We stayed at Albergo Del Senato 2 weeks ago and definitely recommend it. Staff were friendly and helpful. They organized a car to pick us up at the airport. Rooms were clean, breakfast was good. The location is great, looking right onto the Pantheon, and the rooftop bar had great views of the city at night.

I'd just like to add my own rave for the del Senato.

We've just got back from our honeymoon - the first 5 and last 1 nights were spent there. The location cannot be beaten, the staff were friendly, the rooms clean and pleasant and the rooftop bar has fantastic views. We had a room with a view right over the Pantheon and it really made our stay there special. The last night we were two floors down, but directly underneath the first room so a very similar view.

We stayed there this past week for our honeymoon. The staff was great (Salvatore and crew). The hotel has a central location to most of the popular sights. Also, we were in Italy for 2 weeks and had the best meal at Vecchia Roma; give it a try.

In response to your breakfast question, the breakfast buffet offered rolls, croissants, breakfast cake, cheeses, cold cuts, yogurt, various fruits, crackers, cereal, granola, juices, stewed prunes, you could order boiled eggs, and of course the usual selection of coffees, hot chocolate etc. We thought it was pretty good and they kept replenishing the buffet.
