Rome Hotel ???

Has anyone stayed at/formed an opinion of the Hotel Londra & Cadrill in Rome? It seems very nice ( for our budget) - but one of the guidebooks we read said that the area it is in ( Via Veneto & Piazza Barberini) is not-so-great - although others have recommended staying there for the convenience. Any thoughts on the hotel and/or general area????

I've never stayed there, nor do I know anyone who has. The area is NOT unsafe, however. It is very safe. It's not super-close to a lot of the places tourists want to see, like the Vatican Museum or the Trevi Fountain, but it's not that far away, either. I've walked around there at night, felt safe enough, no major concerns.

Buon Viaggio,

Do you have an address for that hotel?

I found the Via Veneto/Piazza Barberini area, at lesat where I stayed, to be very nice and convenient.

I found it:

Hotel Londra and Cargill

It would still be reasonably convenient, but it is a few blocks to the northeast of Piazza Barberini, so not quite as central as I would like.

That hotel is definitely out of the way. If you stay more toward the center of the historic area, Rome is very much a walking city. Some things you will have to take a taxi or bus to.

Thanks so much to all of you - we'll have to think about it - got a great rate, but not sure that we won't eat it up in cabs - at least I feel comfortable that it is safe! Thanks again!
