Rome FCO airport hotel, need help please

Hi everyone, normally I would do a search fist, but I am having major trouble doing a "search" on the board lately. It just gives me the "page cannot be displayed" thing. Ugh!

Can someone please tell me if there is a decent hotel near Rome FCO airport? I believe there is a Holiday Inn, anyone know of anything else?

Thanks!!

There's a new Hilton at the airport. Probably best to search on Hilton web site for more info.

Hi,
After reading the posts from this site I made a reservation at Hotel Cancelli Rossi (www.cancellirossi.it). The Hilton is the most convenient but the prices range from mid $200-300 which seems excessive to me. Hotel Mach2 has also gotten some good reviews...both Hotel Mach2 & Cancelli Rossi are 113 euros per night for a double. They have limited shuttle service to the airport and a cab from the airport to these hotels costs approximately 15 euros.
If you have any choice it's better to stay within Rome but our flight from Sicily to Rome is late and our flight out the next day is very early! Good luck!! Lisa

Spent a night recently at the airport Hilton when Air France bumped us. Very modern, comfortable, charmless. Typical Hilton. Can walk to terminal. It's an enclosed walkway, but it's a decent hike esp if you've overpacked.

Thanks so much everyone. I made an inquiry with the Mach 2 and the Cancelli Rossi. I also found a Holiday Inn Rome West that had reasonable rates. It's further out, but looks pretty good. The Hilton looks great, but yes, yikes, those prices are a little steep. We would stay in the city, but our flight departs very early.

I appreciate the help!
Lisa

Stayed at the Holiday Inn West 2 yrs ago and it was nice, Trafalgar uses this for some tours. Also stayed at the Hilton and it was very nice but may not be worth the extra $$.

littletraveler,
I have stayed at the Mach2 in the past and found it to be very good along with it's price and proximity to the airport.
I don't think you would go wrong there.

littletraveler,
I forgot to mention that the Holiday Inn EUR-Parco dei Medici is about 10 miles to the Airport-Mach2 about one mile and more to see and do in that area.

Stayed at the Hotel Cancelli Rossi last April for the same reason. checked out of our Rome city hotel, left the bags there until around 6 p.m. so we had a full day of sightseeing. Took the train to the airport where we were met by the Cancelli Rossi shuttle van. Got into our room around 8 p.m., Dined on a picnic dinner of wine, cheese, fruit, bread and chocolate that we had picked up in a market in Rome earlier in the day. The hotel had a decent bathroom, shower, hair dryer, even little bottles of shampoo and conditioner. Slept, took a cab to the airport around 5 a.m. (shuttle didn't run this early but the cab fare was very cheap). The hotel was perfect for our needs, kept us from having to get up, check out, take the train from Rome at 3 a.m. Hotel Cancelli Rossi was inexpensive, clean but spartan, like a Hampton Inn or similar US hotel (interior cooridors and elevator though). I would definitely do this again anywhere in Europe where we have an early morning flight connection.
