ROME- Early Flight

I have a question about an early flight leaving from Fiumicino airport. Our flight leaves at 6:45am . We are staying in Rome the nite before (i am not changing this, would rather stay in the city and stay up late and sleep on the plane). Our hotel does offer shuttle service to the airport 24hours a day. Here are my questions
1) Does the train from Termini run 24hrs to Fiumicino?
2) I know it is protocol to get to the Airport 3 hours before take off (that puts us there at 3:45am). It has been my experience in the US on early morning flights the airline counter does not always open 3hrs before the first flight. I was wondering if anyone had run into this before, and where I could find some information about what time the Ticket windows open. I have been the airports website and could not find this information. I don't want to show up at the airport 3hrs ahead of time if i can't check my luggage until 2hrs ahead of time.

Thanks

OUr flight out of Rome was at 7am last April. We got there a couple of hours early and NOTHING was open. No food, no ticket booths, NOTHING!

5:30 is the earliest train.
We had a 6:45 flight once and got there at 5 and also experienced what nma did.

The earliest train is too late for you, so arrange for a car service to pick you up around 4:45. You'll be whisked through predawn Rome in 30 minutes or less, so you can be first in line when the airline counters open at 5:30.

kayd: where did you get the info that ticket counters do not open until 5:30? I believe you, just want the reference.

I've had a couple of 7am flights from there. I would get there 2 hours ahead of time. Even though there's nothing open, including your ticket counter, there will still be a line forming for those wanting their boarding passes. You will probably be in line a full hour before your counter even opens. That's just the way you have to do it unfortunately.

Sorry, I don't have an authoritative citation for the 5:30 opening, just have seen it mentioned in other threads on this topic, as sandi-travelnut notes in her post.

Last year I departed my apartment at 4:30 a.m. and arrived at FCO at 5 a.m. for my 7:30 a.m. flight. There was already a line for our check-in so I was glad to be there early. I used Rome Cabs for my transfer. They were waiting for me to load my luggage when I opened the apartment door.
