Rome-Capri-Pompei week-end

My family will be based in Rome for 5 wks. this summer.I've planned a 2 night stay on Capri(Thurs.&Fri.)We'd like to go from Naples to Pompei on Sat. and stay overnight in Pompei and then back to Rome on Sunday. If possible we's also like to visit Mt.Vesuvius and Herculaneum. Any suggestions as to good plan for this and does it seem doable? Thanks for any ideas.

If you aren't planning on staying or sightseeing in Naples then you should take the ferry from Capri to Sorrento and catch the train to Pompei.

Hi mars,

I would prefer staying overnight in Naples and visiting Pompeii from there.

Thanks Ira. Do you have any hotel recommendations in Naples? Also would staying in Naples be more convenient than Sorrento?

A friend of mine just visited that area and opted for Mt. Vesuvius over Pompeii's ancient city. Big mistake. She said that Mt. V wasn't worth it and seemed as if it was kinda a scam. they treked up there and when near the top they had to pay more to go further.

I didn't hit Mt. V myself so I don't know but Pompeii is crazy amazing. Well worth it. Capri is super cool as well.
