Rome airport to Airbnb
Looking for guidance for the best/easiest way to get from the airport in Rome to the Airbnb we stay at. We are currently scouting places throughout the city to find the place we like the best. My question is if we take a train from the airport to Roma Termini, what is the best way to get from there(with luggage) to wherever we choose to stay? I have read that the buses can be extremely crowded and even challenging to get on. With luggage I'm guessing this could be a nightmare. Should we avoid using buses from and to the airport, and if so what are your recommendations? Thank you in advance.

If you think it could be a nightmare with a bus, why bother? Why is a taxi not listed as an option? I just did this three weeks ago for the umpteenth time I visited Rome.

assuming you would be staying within the Aurelian Walls, the taxi price is fixed at 48EU as noted at the airport web site.
The web site warns you about rogue taxis (if you venture outside the official taxi stand) and how to identify legitimate taxis. For a double measure, whether at airport or anywhere, BEFORE the drive puts his hands on your luggage, ask how much it would cost. Legitimate taxi would give you a figure similar to the figure estimated by your accommodation. If he muddles or pretends he does not hear you or quotes an outrageous figure, it is a likely sign that the taxi is rogue.

For heavens sake forget the buses with heavy luggage. Avoid rip off airport taxis also. Take a train - not the Termini express but the other one, and get off at Roma Ostiense (just buy your ticket at little newspaper sweets shop) and get a taxi from there. Don't pay any more than what's on the meter. Unless of course you have booked a BNB in walking distance from Termini, then WALK.

I've flown into Rome twice in the last month and used public transport 3 of the 4 trips to/from the airport to my 2 accommodations, 1 of them an Airbnb apartment. The 4th trip (to FCO) was derailed (pun intended) by a transport strike and I booked a car service (also €48). If you prefer to be driven (taxi or car service) and don't mind the price then do that.
I paid €8 + €1.50 for streetcar fare for each of the other 3 trips. The obvious homework that needs to be done is to choose an accommodation not far from your transport mode of choice. I prefer to avoid Termini and the more expensive express train that goes there but I did see a number of very nice Airbnb apartments walking distance on the SW side of the station which is a good neighborhood. So those are an option.
I like Trastevere & also Testaccio so chose options for my 2 visits short walks from tram stops. For both I took a train from FCO to Trastevere station (€8 from FCO, both train & tram tickets bought at the ticket window at the FCO station) then the #3 tram from there for the first, the #8 tram from there for the 2nd. I'm 72, had luggage (smallish suitcase, backpack, purse) and had no problem whatever on train or tram.

Click on the small map to enlarge. You'll see Trastevere Station (Staz. Trastevere) center bottom with line 3 & 8 going north from there. Line 8 also crosses the river into the Centro Storico if you prefer a location there. Line 3 goes quite far afield from the station, look on google maps where you'll find the tram stops noted.
I enjoy figuring these things out, and beyond just getting to my destination asap, I like riding on public transport (excluding underground). I find the trams far easier to figure out than the buses, probably because I like the idea of them better and there's no step up to get on. So I confined my searches to within several blocks of those 2 lines. It was as simple as it could be because there are so many options on Airbnb.
