Rome 1954
We are going to Rome next fall and I lived there for three months in 1954. If anyone searching this site lived there then maybe you could let me know as I have a few questions about places I went in the city and I'd like to find out exactly where they are. After 50 some years I'm afraid I won't be able to find my way around very well. I'm excited about seeing Rome again.

Hello mckim, imagine living in Rome in 1954 was quite an adventure, lucky you!
Why don't you list the places that you are interested in and perhaps even those that were not in Rome in the mid 1950's might still be able to advise you. It will cost you nothing, LOL!!

Dear McKim you'll love the book Il Palazzo by Mary Chamberlin, who wrote about those good ole' days.
From my site www.elegantetruria.com, you can find a link to her son's press that has issued a new edition . Go to the Books page, Reading List for a huge selection of books about Italy.

What a great site. Thank you. I've just skimmed it and later today when I have time I'll read everything on it. 50 years ago when in Rome I was 17. I used to go to a swimming pool in a residential neighborhood and take a bus from Via Asmara to the pool but I can't remember where it was. Then I went to a restaurant with other Americans there near the Embassy owned by a man by the last name of Annuziata(he was American and had a daugher my age then) I wonder if it's still there. My parents were living in Rome then.
