Romantic hotel in Paris

We're looking for a romantic hotel in Paris. One that is within walking distance of a lot of sites, shops, etc.

Try Sofitel's Astor on rue d'Astorg. It's right off place de la Madeleine and an easy walk to Place de la Concorde. The Sofitel website offers great discounts off the public rates.

What is your budget? If $$ isn't an object the Plaza Athenee or Ritz is romantic. Less costly hotels are Relais Christine, L'Hotel, Abbaye. Sorry, I haven't stayed in any but they all seem very nice.

If you are interested in booking the Astor Sofitel hotel, try www.all-hotels.com. They offered this hotel for 200Euro/night -- substantially cheaper than booking it through Sofitel's website. Parishotels are also offering 4th night free at parishotels-net.com/Hotel_Astor_Sofitel_Demeure_Paris.htm

Shick,
I can advise you the hotel Cambon, a **** hotel in the really center of Paris, a quite modern hotel but very comfortable and well located: http://www.hcambon.com/
But francophile is right, we have to know your budget in order to advise you more precisely.
Have a good trip in Paris!!!

If budget is no problem stay at the Ritz...very romantic, close to many sites and shopping. Fodors can tell you all about the George V and Crillon, the high end very expensive romantic hotels. If you want a good 3-4 star I would recommend staying at L'hotel on the left bank. You won't be caught up in all the hustle of the right and it's a great place to stay. If you just can't pull yourself away from the right try the Hotel Regina or a new one called Pershing Hall.

Relais Christine is very romantic; there's a
new spa downstairs; there's even a bridal shop right across the street...

Here are a few more ideas

There are a lot of threads with romantic hotel suggestions besides this one.

If the Ritz or George V fits your budget...go for it!

If not, I can recommend a nice little hotel right by the river and Notre Dame. Around 160 euro for a double. It's a fabulous location for strolling the central sites in Paris.

Hotel de Notre Dame, no more than 100 yards from the Seine and Ile de Cite and Ile St. Louis. I did a write up of it on this thread with links to websites, etc. (see 2nd response on the thread):

Another recommendation for the Relais Christine. It's everything you're looking for-- within walking distance to Notre Dame, the Latin Quarter, the Louvre, Musee D'Orsay, and in one of the best parts of Paris for shopping, eating, and people-watching. Some of the rooms can be a little small, even by Parisian standards, so before you check in with luggage, ask to see the room.
The hotel itself is a renovated monastery. The rooms are immaculate, the beds heavenly, and the windows are double-glazed to prevent street noise. We have always enjoyed our stays there.

Bonne chance!

Not to forget the Relais Christine's siter hotel, The "Pavillon de la Reine", in the Marais. Quite romantic, too.

"Hotel de L'Abbaye" is wonderfully located, and very romantic.

I have not personally stayed at the Relais Christine but wanted to alert you to somewhat unfavorable reviews for this hotel at http://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Rev...de_France.html. It could be the perfect romantic hotel you are looking for but I could not convince myself to book there. It's good to hear that several people really liked the hotel though.

Once more I'll recommend Relais St. Germain. It's a small hotel with really large rooms, fully decorated by interior designer owners. It has the complete feel of a "romantic" Parisian residence. It's just half a block off St.Germain, right by the popular Odeon metro stop.

If you are looking for a quaint, small hotel I would strongly recomment the Hotel Victoria (in the Chatelet area, there's another cross town).

It won't be anything close in opulence or facilities to some of the others but then again it will be approx 100 Euros per night.

Best of all is it's location - almost every metro line has a stop just 25 feet from your front door, the Louvre, Notre Dame, Ste. Chapelle are all approx. a 3-5 minute walk. You're one block off the Seine, etc. etc. Our fmily has stayed there 6 times in the last 15 years and will be back again asap. Give them a ring. Ask for a window on the street with the big french doors (Room 106)

Then again, if you can afford to stay a the George V you won't regret it.

I was shocked to hear about the poor reports on Relais Christine, so I checked TripAdvisor. I just wanted to say that it's a mixed bag-- two so-so recommendations, and two that seemed to really like it. I think it depends very much on what kind of room you get on check in, which is why we always ask to see the room first. Usually the second room we ask to see is a lot nicer than the first. Anyway, we've always had a great stay at the hotel, and I think it's location is superb.

Hi Shick,

Last week we visited a friend staying at the Hotel le Duc St Simon in the 7th. It was right in a charming small street off the Rue de Bac and walking distance to almost everything! The hotel was very beatifully appointed, very French, and very romantic (Lauren Bacall stays there when in Paris). I believe the double room was in the 250 euro range.
Good luck!

I think the hotel you first stay in on your first visit to Paris will be romantic. That's just me, maybe, but afterall, it's Paris!
