romantic eats/attractions:london
My husband and I are taking a second honeymoon to London mid-June and would love some suggestions concerning dining, nightlife, and attractions. We are in our midtwenties amd will be staying at the Marriot Marble Arch for 7 nights. We are very excited as it is our first trip to England! Also, does anyone know of an inexpensive place to stay in Heathrow??? Our flight gets in at 11pm and we cannot get into the hotel until 11am the next morning-bad booking, we know!!! Thanks so much!

Suggest calling the IBIS chain which I know does have a location at Heathrow. I am staying at the one at Gatwick next Sat. night at a cost of 38 pounds for two (no breakfast and includes VAT). I think the rate at Heathrow is same and may have a free shuttle too. Rooms will be clean, very small and with private bath. Totally appropriate for just a clean place to sleep no frills.
The best restaurant I've EVER dined at is Le Souffle in the Intercontinental Hotel in London. I haven't been back since 1992 so can't even validate if it is still there. Ask your hotel conceirge. It is expensive and wonderful.

Thank you, Ellen, for your info. The IBIS chain sounds perfect, and I want to check it out. However, inexperienced traveler that I am, I have no idea what IBIS stands for...so if you could please share that with me I would truly appreciate it! Thanks!!!

A wonderful restaurant (though a bit on the expensive side ) are the two in the Oxo Tower on the south bank of the Thames. There are wonderful views across the river. There is also a lovely Italian restaurant, Bertorelli's across from the Opera House in Covent Garden.

My wife and I were in London in 1994. We stayed at The Grosvenor House which is, I assume, near the Marble Arch Marriott. We were on Park Lane.
Anyway, one of our favorite places for a beer or drink was a little pub about two blocks behind the Grosvenor House called The Audley. The atmosphere was nice as were the people, and it was a very short walk.
A friend of ours recommended Simpson's in the Strand for dinner. It is right next to the Savoy Hotel in the theatre district. Extraordinary beef in a pure British environment and reasonably priced.
Good luck and have fun.
