Romantic dinner in Paris
A very young couple I know are looking for a nice place for a romantic dinner in Paris where they'll be spending just this weekend. They have a budget of Euro 200 including a glass of wine each. Does anybody here have a suggestion? It can be any kind of cuisine. The ambience should be nice and it should be 'romantic'. I would be grateful for any ideas here.. Thank you!

La Truffière in the 5th. Careful ordering à la carte, or the 75E menu (seems to be available on the weekend), should work with their budget.

My concept of a romantic dinner in Paris would be a tiny restaurant in the heights of Paris -- perhaps Montmartre but more likely Menilmontant or even up around Place Gambetta. There are lots of sensational meals up there, but unfortunately, it would be hard to pay more than about 60€ including a bottle of wine.

It is now a chain called Carrette.
They might like the Ciel at the very top of Tou Montparnasse

Oh no! La Guirlande is gone?? Wahhhhh!
I don't think Le Ciel is romantic at all. Great view, decent but pricey food, but always noisy and crowded when I've been there.
How about Café Constant or La Fontaine de Mars or Le Florimond? Not especially romantic, but all of them are cozy and have really good food.

As it is a "very young couple" that is dining, I don't know many such couples who like to surrounded exclusively by affluent retirees. But of course, I know mostly idiosyncratic people. Maybe most very young couples actually love to rub elbows with old people stuffing their faces on "damn the cholestorol" night.

Thank you all for your response. I had passed on your suggestions to them. I am not sure what these two 25 year olds have finally decided to do, its possible that the young lad is proposing so he may have decided to go upmarket..I am sure they will tell me soon!

Hi S,
A few suggestions (some from other posters here)
Bouillon Racine, 3 Rue Racine gorgeous Art Nouveau décor
Restaurant Vagenende 142 Boulevard St. Germain also art Nouveau
Le Ferrandaise www.laferrandaise.com
These are not "romantic" in the way of sparkling candlelight on crystal and starched linen. They are, however, very Parisian and will be less than the budgeted price.
Le Train Bleu for a taste of "Belle epoch" Paris www.le-train-bleu.com/uk/index.php
I also recommend the Fixed Price Lunch at Taillevent http://taillevent.com/
A 3* experience at 2* prices.
