hello there...

heading off to Rome on May 1st, arrive the 2nd and leave the 9th. so...I wonder if the Roma Pass is of any use? Has anyone tried it? I was thinking about buying 2 passes per person for both of us, and taking a side trip to Florence mid way. I know I am trying to squash a lot in...but please tell me what you think about the passes. I understand that they are good for 3 days travel on bus or metro and two attractions or museums free per pass. So one pass on either side of the trip to Florence which I have already prepaid with Transat..what do you think please?

It may or may not be worth your while to buy two passes.

If the two free attractions (you also get a discount on others) are not very expensive or if you don't use the bus and/or Metro very much, the second one might not be worth it.

It depends on what you want to visit and days of week. Many things are closed on Monday so you wouldn't get full use of the pass. I think I would get one and use it for the Colosseum/Forum/Palatine Hill and for the Borghese (reservation required)as they are the most expensive to visit. You get discounts at other museums after you have used your free entrances. What is Transat?

I just bought the Roma Pass last week and thought it was well worth it. I would suggest buying it for the first part of your trip, see if you like it, then you can always buy another for after Florence. We used ours for entrance to the National Museum (where we bought it), and the Colosseum, then used it for a 50% discount at the Borghese. Included w/ the Nat Mus entrace are 3 other museums and included w/ the Col is Palatine Hill and the Forum...so you get to bypass lines at all those places if they're your first two stops. I also like the convenience of hopping on a metro or bus whenever I want and not having to deal with buying a ticket. We were staying near the train station and there were a few times we saw a bus coming with that destination and just jumped on to save our feet.

50%? Now I'm really confused. LauraFR75 on another thread said the discount with the Roma Pass was the same as the discount for seniors, students, etc., and Borgese's site says regular tickets are 8,50 euros while the students/seniors' reduced price is 5,25. So the Roma Pass discount is different?

Where did you find your list of Roma Pass discounts for the museums?

Sorry for the confusion...we paid $5.25, but I thought I had seen that the regular price was $10.50, thus a 50% discount. Ignore my faulty percentage. I was a bit surprised that it was a 50% discount b/c I understood it to be around 30%, so this explains it!

I have a question about the Roma passes too.
I made the reservations on line for the Borghese (28 Euros)
Would I still be able to use the Roma Pass?
Does the 28 Euros not cover admission?

When we made our Borghese reservations online, we said we wanted to use our Roma Passes. This meant that we picked up the tickets at the Borghese and showed our Roma Passes. There was no additional admission fee. We did, however, pay for a guided tour that happened to be leaving when we arrived, and it was only one or two euros more than the the audioguides and well worth it.

Hmm.........it's probably too late to do that now.

MFifi - I think I got my discount list from Pierreci, but they have changed their website and I can't find it on there anymore. The closest list I can find right now is on the Roma Pass website although it doesn't list everything (I don't see the Borghese on there). Scroll to the bottom for the English version.

Dave, I'm arriving the same day and leaving the 8th; also can't decide whether to buy the Roma Pass plus a 3-day BTI ticket (€11) or just the week-long CIS ticket (€16) for transit. I'm worried that cramming all the museums into Tues-Thurs may be exhausting.
