Hi, we are four adults (two are first timers in Paris) and have only 3 nights there. They'd like to go on an evening cruise on the Seine, possibly a dinner cruise. We realize you don't go on these cruises for the food, however, is there one that is better than the others? Is the food really bad? How long is the cruise?

It would either be for Christmas Eve or Christmas Day, so we realize that there will be a premium to be paid. Not looking for cheapest, just looking for best, cheap or expensive.

Better a dinner in a nice restaurant and then a cruise. Vedettes de Pont Neuf is popular, and there are lots of restaurants nearby.

The general consensus is to take a cruise- but NOT a dinner cruise. They are overpriced and have pretty mediocre food. Take a cruise for sure, but eat a nicer meal on shore before or afterwards.

I prefer the vedettes from Pont Neuf.

I agree, no dinner cruise and recommend Vedettes du Pont Neuf. I would make sure in advance that they will be operating on the "Holidays". You may have to adjust your schedule if they let their employees off and close down. I believe the cruise lasts about an hour. Look for internet discount on their website.

Better better better to take the cruise (in the late afternoon at that time of year--as the lights are coming on in the city and the tower) and then a beautiful GOOOOOD dinner somewhere memorable.

Eat after. Restaurants don't really start serving until 7 or so.
At that time of year it will be dark at 5, maybe. Vedettes are our favorite.

We have been on both companies' boats several times and decide based on our location; i.e. which one is closer to where we'll be.

Many restaurants are closed on those 2 days. Make sure to reserve for dinner.

I'd worry more about where will be open for dinner and less about a river cruise.

Look fofr discount coupons for Seine cruises on city maps like those from Galleries Lafayette and or au Printemps - to me the various companies are as similar as peas in pods - Bateaux Mouches is perhaps the oldest company with the most famous name - a name however that is often misunderstood as meaning a boat like a flea - actually the name comes from a quarter in Lyon - the Mouches section where commuter boats used to cross the river there - nothing to do with fleas.
