River Cruise and Communications

We will be taking a Uniworld cruise between Petersburg and Moscow in June. Does anyone know what the communications possibilities are ? Believe cell phone use is about $5/min to the US. There must be internet cafes in the two cities but what about in between. Is there internet on the ship ? Is the ship enabled with ship-to-shore phone lines, etc. ? Am asking because my son-in-law will be along on this trip, and there is the possibility that his company will need to get in touch with him. I will call Uniworld for information but just wondered if anyone here knows anything about this.

Your chances of fining an internet between the cities is slim. If one is available half the ship will be looking to use it.
In Moscow and St Petersburg you should have no problem except maybe with the Russian keyboard. If you stop in Yaroslavl or Kostroma you will find them and maybe in Uglich.

No internet on the ship, you may find ship to shore phone.

I just called Uniworld. Right, no internet on the ship, but there is a ship to shore phone thru which my son-in-law can be contacted. Ah heck, he'll undoubtedly just take the cell with him.

Thanks, Garfield. Wow, that site has more than one really wants to know about cell phone use in Russia. I passed it along to my son-in-law.

Hi Bedar,
can't help with your communications question, but I do have a request. please do post a trip report when you get back. My mom and I are thinking of doing that trip next year, and I'd love to hear about it.
