riots ? just returned from Paris 11/19/05

I am sorry that I did not get thi post out sooner. I just retuned from a week in Paris. I would not recomend that anyone cancel or change plans to visit the lovely city of Paris. I saw no signs of "burnng". I will admit that I did not venture out into the suburbs this time, but central Paris is business as usual with a slightly stronger police force around the national monuments. I did see two rallies, mostly politicians and local gentry. ASk yourself this....would you have gone directly into Watts during the riots? No of course not....gpt to Paris, stay in the areas of the old city and enjoy...... by he way Paris like any other big city, is a big city and does have the normal crime...be smart too......

Thanks seafox -- it's exactly what my French friends are saying and is consistent with the location of the suburbs in question.

Seafox well said....
I was in Paris from 27th Oct - 3rd Nov....and we spent time at the flea market in Clingincourt & a night in Belleville....I know, not quite the burbs...but we didn't stop any of our outings. Never had any problems....never saw any fires!

And as Time magazine reported, 1 person was killed in the Paris riots, and 54 were killed in the Rodney King riots.

The media were reporting that the riots were in Paris, thus, making people afraid to visit.
