Good Afternoon,<BR><BR>My wife and I will be going to Germany this June and was wondering if that was a good month to do any wine tastings in some of the wine regions of the Rhine? <BR><BR>I was bolstered by the recent news about wine and health.

June's as good a month as any for wine tasting. St. Goarshausen has a public tasting room housed in an old city tower at the south end of town. If you like sweeter wines and/or you're looking for a festival, head to Cochem on the Mosel, not far from the Rhine, for the Mosel-Wine-Week beginning June 18 and ending June 22. Reserve in advance - it's popular.

Ron - I would strongly suggest that you invest in obtaining the &quot;Mosel &amp; Rheingau&quot; guide book in the series &quot;Touring in Wine Country&quot; edited by Hugh Johnsonn. It is an excellent guide book and not only discusses the best wineries, but also gives excellent insight as to dining, accomodations and tourist sites. I think it is available at Barnes &amp; Noble online. We used it extensively on our month vacation on the Mosel and were able to savor many delicious wines. Many wineries are open for tasting and light lunches on Saturdays along the Mosel (and I expect the Rhine), and my wife and I made it a habit of having baked camembert with currant sauce, washed down with several wine selections. You will have a wonderful time. Enjoy!

I prefer a more robust vintage with light,sweet foods. A Chateau-Margaux or Cabernet or even a Lambrusco, but not the fruity German wines. Oh Pleeeeeeez.

Again a perfectly good post by Ron asking about wine tasting in the Rhine area of Germany has been taken over by someone who thinks his tastes in wine are better than any one elses. The taste of wine is a matter of taste. Ron, I expect you will have a wonderful time and enjoy some great German wines and again I urge to get a copy of &quot;Touring in Wine Country&quot; written by real experts.

Didn't mean to start a whine.<BR>But since I did, what the heck, let's<BR>go for it.<BR>Camembert is great with cabernet and cab blends like Bordeaux and currant is <BR>a one of the characteristics of these wines, they call it cassis in France.<BR>I must say despite the fact I make, sell, and drink wine, I think anyone that desribes themselves as an expert in these ever changing culture of the wine industry is nuts or pompous (sp). Only one small helpfull fact. Usually the foods of that region go best with that wine of that region. <BR><BR>Keep drinking!!!!!<BR>
