Thanks so much for the information on Boppard. I actually was looking at the Hotel Garni Gunther but haven't made any final decisions. We're going early next October so it sounds like the chairlift will be open then. We're really looking forward to that. I love all this planning. It will keep me busy the whole winter.

We recently returned from a trip along the Rhine and stayed both in Boppard for one night and Oberwesel for 2 nights.
We stayed at the BW Bellevue Rheinhotel in Boppard. Someone posted a link to it above. It is your standard hotel, nothing special, but fine for one night. Our room had a balcony overlooking the Rhine. In fact we were right in front of the KD boat dock.
In Oberwesel we stayed at Castle Auf Schoenburg. It was wonderful. We almost didn't want to leave the hotel and go do anything else, but we did. We had dinner in their restaurant as well which was fantastic. Well worth the money.
