We bought a piece of land in Sedona, Arizona facing those beautiful red rocks. We plan to build something that we can afford so as to be able to continue traveling.

Shanna, I know where you are looking for ;-)
If you can get along with maniana mentality southern coast of Turkey especially Kalkan area would offer you waht you desire. Besides the investment you might be spending elsewhere would drop by 1/3.

Thought to give my idea.

However I would like to spend my retirement within 2 or 3 different centers.

Cheers to all

Aine, when you live in Naples, Florida, you'd be a fool to leave in the winter and stay home in the summer. We usually leave in April or May and return in September or even October. That means we are usually at the height of tourist season most places we visit. But since we live in a tourist town, we're used to it.
Every year we return to London for a week to two. And every year we return to Paris for a week or two. In between we do a combination of places we haven't been and places we want to return to. We've only been to Asia once for 3 weeks before retiring. Last year we were thinking of going for a couple of months, but SARS put us off that. We're back to thinking of that in 2005, but when all's said and done, it's hard for us to give up Europe.

We have had the darkest winter on record since the 70's where I lived (as measured by continuous days without sunshine). We had one winter where it rained part of every day for 90 days straight (twice as long as it rained on Noah). So for me I want winter sun. Not heat but sun sun sun. Any suggestions? I'd like Spain or Portugual I think.

Sun in the winter? South America and Australia come to mind immediately.
