Dear ekscrunchy: We returned last week from our Italia Bella trip, and just wanted to tell you that one of the outstanding meals we had was in Orvieto at Osteria dell'Orso. I Sette Consoli was closed on the Sunday we were there, so we headed for dell'Orso. Our host, Ciro, was charming and welcoming, and the food and wine were delicious. My husband and I and our 13 year old grandson savored every morsel. Thank you so much for the recommendation! We each had different dishes, but my husband's choice of tagliarini with truffles and mushrooms won in all our opinions! And to you, ihalfar19, we had dinner at the Yellow Bar in Florence with some friends, and found the atmosphere fun for our grandson and the food delicious. We were not looking for sophisticated gourmet dining experiences, and both of these restaurants were just perfect for our needs. Thanks to all the Fodorites whose advice enhanced our travels!

In Orvieto I recommend Mezzaluna, a very simple but delightful pasta place. I've only eaten there at dinner time, so I'm not sure if it is open for the noontime meal. Our latest meal there was four different types of pasta... it was wonderful!
