Restaurants in or near the 17th Arrondisement (Les Batignolles)?
My husband and I will be staying in Les Batignolles for a week later this year. I do have some reservations around town: Le Florimond and Le Train Bleu. I tried for a reservation at Le Comptoir, but no such luck.
On the evenings that we want to remain "closer to home," where can you suggest we go? I have no particular type of food in mind, and, while I don't wish to break the bank, do want one "splurge" evening.
Does anyone have input regarding the new restaurant Atao?
Thanks for your recommendations.

Thank you d claude bear. Aubergine looks great from the photos. You can't get any closer than that! I remember seeing it when I was there a few years ago but it was August and closed.

I hope Aubergine's kitchen staff is more capable than whoever put together its website http://restaurant-aubergine.com/indexe.html It says nothing about its menu or wine list, and says (in French) it is open six days a week without indicating which days. The accompanying video is meaningless.
To be fair, a search does reveal an e-mail address, which is more than most Paris restaurants bother with. I am being mean, I suppose, because it startles me how many Parisian establishments are blase (sorry, can't find the accent) about the business and service potential of the Internet.

We dined there three times during our month renting in Les Batignolles in May, 2010. La carte changes daily, depending on what looks best at the markets that day, although some choices seem to be more predictable.

I did a bit of research on Cuisine Neva and think it looks great. I called for a reservation, but will have to try back, as they only accept reservations 15 days out.
Any other receommendations?

I really like John Talbott's reviews of Paris restaurants. I haven't been to any of these in the 17th, but he does have a review for Atao, along with a couple others. He handily organizes his reviews by arrondissement. Most restos he covers are in the 100 Euro for two range, which I appreciate. He also covers opening times, etc. Enjoy!
