Restaurants in Berlin and Dresden

Does anyone have some suggestions for restaurants in Berlin and Dresden? We like regional foods in smaller, less noisy restaurants. However we are open to any other ideas as well.
Thanks.

I haven't been in Berlin since 1992, but it was fun to do a little mini-review of available web resources that might help answer your question.

My usual first places to turn - - www.timeout.com and Fodors itself - - are worth something, but neither seemed as useful as this.

http://www.gastro-lloyd.de/a-z/index2.html

In German and in English.

Hope you have similar good luck with Dresden.

Best wishes,

Rex
I don't have the name but a friend in Dresden took us to a restaurant that is just south of the downtown area on the west side of the river but right on the river. There is only one street that goes from the downtown area south along the river.

I live in Dresden, but usually prefer to have local food at home. So my experiences with such restaurants are limited. Anyway, recently I enjoyed very good local food, good service and familiar atmosphere in a restaurant called “Hubertusgarten”, Bautzener Landstrasse, in Dresden-Bühlau. For tourists I usually recommend the restaurant “Sophienkeller”, in the cellar of the Kempinski Hotel Taschenbergpalais. Vaulted ceilings, very good local food, but sometimes a bit noisy. You might find a quiet corner there, though.

For delicious local food your best choice is one of the restaurants (usually called “Erbgericht”) in the surrounding villages.

Wish you a great time in Dresden!

Ingo
Hi, we were just in Dresden last week and enjoyed these two restaurants very much. I believe they fit your bill:

- "Carousel" in Hotel Buelow Residence. Excellent food, attentive service in a quiet atmosphere. The hotel is in the old town, just off the Konigstrasse. Have a look at their website: http://www.hotelbook.com/static/welcome_20371.html#top

- Eckberg Castle. The restaurant has outdoor sitting which gives a terrific view of Dresden & the Blue Wonder Bridge. It took us less than 10mins from Hotel Buelow to get here via car.

Just for your info, tired out from all the walking, I had a most relaxing pedicure and foot massage at "Ronald Brendler Cosmetic" located in Prisco Passage, off the Konigstrasse. If your feet need some pampering, this is the place to go. Ask for Manauella Teitz, she's very professional. Their website :www.ronald-brendler.de

Enjoy Dresden !

If you don't mind going to one of the suburbs try the restaurant at Hotel Sorgenfrei located just outside of Dresden city. You can get their using the tram from city center. The hotel itself is wonderful - a renovated villa. Restaurant offers great food and really nice atmosphere.
http://www.hotel-sorgenfrei.de/
Hotel + Restaurant Sorgenfrei
Augustusweg 48
D-01445 Radebeul
Telefon: (0351) 8 93 33-30
Telefax: (0351)-8 30 45 22
