restaurants in Amboise?

We stayed in Amboise about three years ago and loved it. We plan to return next month and are trying to find a restaurant we enjoyed on the last trip. It was across the Loire River and about 15 km to the east from Amboise. The name was something like Croix Blanc (I believe the translation was 'White Cross'). Does anyone know if it still exists and a location or phone number?

Could it possibly have been Le Cheval Blanc (the white horse), in Bléré?

Even if it wasn't, you might want to try Le Cheval Blanc - one of my all-time favorite restaurants.

thanks, but it did have croix in the name. it was run by a french couple who moved the restaurant from Amboise to a small village about 15-20 km away. we had a nice time talking with the chef who had worked at a restaurant in chicago for several years. we ate in the back yard with about 10 other tables while their 5 year old son played there. it was one of the nicest meals we had in france (which is really saying something) because of the food, the setting and the owners.

Is this the one?

"La Croix Blanche de Sologne"? It's part of a hotel? Google can be amazing if you know what to feed it. I guess croix is feminine, so maybe that's why your search didn't come up with anything. I don't know anything about it.

Hm.... Not sure what I'd do. Perhaps call this restaurant anyway to see if it's the one, or contact the tourist offices? They may be able to help.
