I assume you mean the American southwest, so you would have better luck if you posted your message on the US board.

Pretty sure the OP means the SW of Ireland as this message appears when you do a topic search on Ireland. This is very confusing to new posters here.

Sandgate: I know it may appear that you are posting to an "Ireland board", but actually, this is all a European board. The Ireland part is merely a preset "search topic". You will want to post a new thread that lists Ireland in the title and refers specifically to restaurants in the SW of Ireland.

To your question, I have no idea! This might be tough information to come across.

Hi Sandgate,

My Husband and I are heading to Ireland in the fall and as we explore the southwest I can look into it at the restaurants we eat in for you. My husbands uncle had Coeliac disease and I know he is very involved in an association that supports Coliacs. I will be seeing him this Saturday and ask him about this he may already know of some or have an easy way to find out.

Sandgate, I just did a search on google.com for "Gluten Free Restaurants Ireland" and got a number of hits. This may be of some help to you.

We have traveled twice through Europe after my husband was diagnosed with celiac sprue.

We found that most restaurants will accommodate your requests. For instance, if chicken francese was on the menu, we asked that they make it with just the egg...and they did. We request that in the U. S. as well, and haven't been refused yet. However, if you stay with grilled meats, salads and veggies, you should be ok.

In fact, a friend of ours who traveled to Ireland told us that she found a gluten-free bakery there. Apparently, this is a common disease in Ireland as well as in other European countries.
