This is a terrific forum - very helpful.<BR><BR>As we're travelling to Florence, Venice and Rome can anybody help with some good but inexpensive places to eat that isn't wholly pizza or pasta and not full of tourists(our Aussie $ doesn't go far these days). We don't mind walking if they are a little out of the way if they are worth walking to!

Tons of info already here if you text search for it "rome and restaurant," or other city name.<BR><BR>Highly recommend the "Great Eats in Italy" book by Sandra Gustafson, and of course you can check out the restaurant listings here on Fodors, as well as Frommer's, Timeout, and other sites.

I would recommend "Grappolo d'Oro" (grapes of gold) in the Campo di Fiori area of Rome, also "L'Orso" (the bear) located up past the Pantheon. Both are local Italian restaurants with very few, if any, "turisti." Buona fortuna!
