Restaurant tip for the Paris-bound

My sister just got back from Paris ( many thanks for all the good tips, especially the one about bringing binoculars to Chartres).
In Paris, she highly recommends the following restaurant: Le Troyon, 4, rue Troyon
Tel 01 40 68 99 40
Fax: 01 40 68 99 57

It's a short cab ride from the Hotel Scribe, about 33 Euro per person ,prix fixe, reservations are a must.

Thank you, Michele. What did she eat there and what did she ESPECIALLY like about the place? : ) Happy she had a great time.

What she liked the most: filled with Parisians, very nice waiter ( when her French failed her he went back to the kitchen and produced the flavor she was wondering about age as served in a sage flavored ice.)The menu changes everyday, but this is what she and her two friends had: seared foie gras, grilled Alsatian sausage ( more like a smoked ham)for starters. Then: grilled salmon over fennel, loin of lamb with roquefort fingerling potatoes , and braised beef cheek in red wine sauce. Chocolate souffle with homemade almond ice cream finished the meal. They let the waiter pick the wines (good ones by the glass were available). Are you hungry yet?

Here's a note from my trip in June '02. I second the rec on Le Troyon. The wine list is especially nice with it's focus on Southern French wines.

Le Troyon-4, rue Troyon in the 17th arrd. metro: #1,2,6 Ch. De Gaulle Etoilé, just off Ave de Wagram Tel: 01 40 68 99 40 Fax: 01 40 68 99 57
The blackboard reveals a 30E menu which including a very nice amouse bouché, entree, granite, main dish, dessert or fromage and ginger cookies. Nice selection of wines from the South. We had a 2000 Langeudoc called Cazeneuve's from the Pic St. Loup. The three of us thouroughly enjoyed our meals. Unfortunately I recall only what I had. First dish was the seared ahi tuna on frisee with crispy shallots and vinagret. Main course was the duck confit (leg and thigh) and roasted breast and wing with flagolet and parsley. Sort of a deconstructed cassoulet. Dessert was a raspberry tart with creme anglaise. Expresso to finish what was, in my humble opinion a wonderful meal for the price. Great food in an unpretentios bistro that tries very hard to please, and they do!
