LA TAVERNACCIA DA BRUNO:

Family owned out of most touristed part of that district but close to the river.

Their most famous dish is the suckling pig but they concentrate on the typical Roman dishes.
Moderate price.
Very cozy and picturesque; closed Wednesdays.

Must book in advance...

Don't go to Tonnarello if you have to wait. People are told to go there and honestly I think the 5 star reviews are based on that hype and not on reality.
it's fine. But not great and not worth waiting for as there are a lot of great restaurants near there.

If you're looking for steak then Hostaria Del Moro has dry aged rib and tbone..... you'll see a lot of this in florence but not so much in Rome so if you don't go to Florence then this is a great place to try it in that area.

oh and across the river from there in the very edges of the jewish quarter is a heap of good places to eat. We chose Giggetto and was very pleased

Aristo Campo, Via della Lungaretta 75. I haven't been there for dinner but have been there several times for lunch. Love their Beef Strips with Arugula & Tomatoes! Their motto is "Hate war and tourist menu." 😁

Thank you. I'm hoping to get back to Firenze for the bistecca alla Fiorentina. My favourite restaurant in the Jewish quarter is Al Pompiere, very close to Giggetto. Last year, although it was no longer on the menu, the chef made me a plate of penne all'arrabbiata which I first had there about 30 years ago. I swear the same waiter who was there also on subsequent visits was still there! I took a photo with him.
