I have another thread out there on this. But since we now may have the name of this place I've been to and am searching for, I thought I'd put the name itself out there and see if anyone knows of it. Hmmmm??

Jan, I couldn't believe your posting!! I have been on my computer for hours searching info for my trip and stumbled on some info about this show. I don't remember the site, might have been www.virtualtourist.com that lead me to www.fantasieditrastevere.com. Nothing specific, but maybe it will help...Nancy

Fantasie di Trasteverie is pretty touristy but can be fun if you take it with a grain of salt. It's a sort of old Italian vaudeville scene with lots of food and fun (and busloads of Japanese and Germans of course).

It was pretty touristy, Tom. When we went the entire downstairs, the "orchestra" seating, if you will, was nothing but Japanese tourists. Sometimes they were as interesting as the show! The more I hear about it the more I think this must be the place I remember from before. And yes, vaudevillian is a perfect description of parts of the show. Have you been?

And yes, it was incredibly schmaltzy at times, but the pure level of talent we witnessed overcame whatever schmaltz was present. I'm pretty discriminating, being an old music/theater major myself, and that tenor was heavenly! Plus the food was great. Now I just wonder if kids are allowed....hmmmm??
