4 nights in Rome, 1 in Florence and 3 in Venice, going in 2 weeks. We will be 6 all together, traveling with our 2 young adult kids and 2 of their friends. Looking for dinner recommendations - moderate price, great food. We are staying in Trastevere in Rome, near the Ponte Vecchio in Florence, and in Dorsoduro in Venice. Also, if anyone has any suggestions for a quick, early dinner for one night in Trastevere would much appreciate it - on the day we arrive we are doing a night tour of the Vatican Museums and have to meet our guide at 7:15 in St Peters Square, so plan to nap in afternoon then grab something beforehand. You won't be able to eat dinner before 7.15 pm in Rome. Nobody will be serving food exept sandwiches or microwaved pasta in bars. The best plan if you want to fill up with something famously tasty before your Vatican tour is Pizzarium near the Cipro metro stop ( leave enough time to walk back to piazza San Pietro). Otherwise, stores and delis will still be open as you make your way toward San Pietro, so grab things to eat on the fly, and plan to eat pizza and pasta after your tour at Sor'Eva in piazza delle Rovere or go to someplace in Trastevere if you can get back there after your tour before every kitchen closes for the night.

For Florence, you could check out Pitti Gola e Cantina if everybody is excited about trying Tuscan wines, or look up Golden View and see if it appeals given the composition of your group. You probably need reservatins at either place. For a classic old-school Tuscan trattoria near the Ponte Vecchio, try Del Fagioli. Easy on the wallet when it comes to Florence.

I mean to add for Dorsoduro, try Do Farai.

You might try Sorpasso near the Vatican for, if nothing else, a heavy snack, e.g., charcuterie, cheeses and the like. I'm not sure how much of their menu would be available; perhaps more than just snacks. Excellent food and fun atmosphere.

Thanks - that is kind of what we will be looking for. We know we will be sacrificing a nice Roman dinner on the first night, and just planning on pizza or sandwich before the Vatican tour. The other evenings we intend to have a much more relaxed dinner at a later hour. Would probably like to eat one evening in Trastevere, and the other 2 more centrally

The best lunch we had in Florence was at All'Antico Vinaio. It's worth standing in line for their outstanding sandwiches. Five euros each and two euros for a glass of wine. They have a restaurant across the street if you'd like to sit at a table.

Well, if you are staying in Dorsoduro, you can dine at the many restaurants
that line the waterfront of the Zattere.

Cheap: Ae Oche near Billa Supermarket on the Zattere.

$$$$: a beccafico in the Campo San Stefano.  Great seafood.
