I'm afraid near London Eye is a restaurant chain wasteland

Thanks for the reminder about Simpsons (ate there as a newlywed in the 1980's), and we were so impressed by those serving carts! Alas it is temporary closed.

One of the things you might enjoy in York is a visit to Betty’s Cafe Tea Room. It has a lovely breakfast and lunch menu and afternoon tea is a real pleasure. Can be busy, but well worth the wait.

We found two restaurants in London which were outstanding Indian food.

Quilon

Southwest Indian.
Very good seafood, a bit pricey, but it has a no tipping policy.
Cool contemporary vibe. Good for a special meal.
Not far from Buckingham Palace

NoorJahan 2

This one is tiny, tucked away in a neighborhood, somewhere between Hyde Park and Paddington Station, as I recall.
Excellent prawns, small, open later than a lot of places nearby.
May require a minimum order per person of about 18 pounds.

Blow! It's a great place. Yes, those carts.

While you said you can recommend it, you don’t seem to have included its name. Is it possible you can provide that as I would like to look at it potentially.
