RER Point to Point versus Paris Visite?

Good morning!

I am tring to figure out which is better?

I will only be in Paris for 2 days, in at CDG and out of ORY the nest day.

I would need to take the RER from CDG to Glaciere, then a few (3-5) inner city metro rides... then Glaciere to ORY the next morning.

Is there a place I can find the exact point to point fares for the 2 airport routes I mentioned?... so I can determine if it is a better deal to purchase the Paris Visite?

Thanks very much!

Go to: http://www.transilien.com/MOVIE/FR/PrRForm.htm to find out point A to B prices. If that didn't work, go to: www.transilien.com/ and click on Prix par Trajet on the left hand menu bar.

Transitbuddy, Thanks very much... only 1 problem... when I try this, do you know what I am supposed to type in for the CDG airport station?
I have tried several things including Aeroport Charles de Gaulle but it keeps giving me an error.

Is there a list of station names that I am just not seeing? Thanks!

Take a look at buying an unlimited Mobilis pass for Zones 1-2 for the first day, plus a ticket from CDG to La Plaine Stade de France (to get you into Zone 2). This adds up to 12.05€.

- OR -

If you are under 26 and arriving on a Saturday or Sunday, get a Ticket Jeunes for Zones 1-3 plus a ticket from CDG to Le Blanc-Mesnil, for a total of 8.10€.

In either case, catch the Orlybus the next day at the nearest stop as shown on this map (5.80&euro:

Ok, I figured it out! Thanks SO much this is perfect!!

8 Euros from CDG
5.65 Euros to ORY
1.40 per nornal ride

Looks like it is cheaper for me to just pay point to point unless I take more than 8-9 metro rides which I doubt I will.

Thanks VERY much!!

Go to transilien.com
Click prix billets par trajet
Type in CDG and it will offer you some choices.

But if you take my advice above, you can get around for a few bucks less.

Robespierre,

OOOps! I think I was typing when you sent your 1st post! I saw it AFTER my last reply.

You are correct, if I take 4 or more inner Paris rides I am better of with the 1 day Mobilis. Thanks for the advice we will do that!

It's almost impossible to save money on public transportation with a Paris Visite; the ticket is strictly for naive tourists.

No matter what ticket you use, however, the cost of public transportation will be a small fraction of your total trip expenditures, so you should not waste a lot of time fretting over which ticket(s) to buy.

If you can possibly fret for about three minutes and save $10, though, I think you should do it.

FYI, when in Glacière, the best way to go to Orly is take the RATP Orlybus. There is a stop called "Dareau-Saint Jacques", at the intersection of rue Dareau and Bd Saint Jacques, in front of the Sofitel hotel, within walking distance from the Glacière area. I used to live at Glacière, and this was the way for me to go to Orly. More info (detailed map, schedules)on ratp.fr.

Thanks! That sounds PERFECT since we are staying at that Sofitel!... AND our flight is pretty early in the morning, so we will take the bus.

I leave today, thanks SO much for everyone's help!

In case you need assistance locating the Orlybus stop in Art's post, it's on the map whose URL I posted yesterday at 1:50.

You're welcome.

Sorry, I am a bit late to react, but if you travel by RER from CDG to the Sofitel, don't bother to change: the Sofitel is within walking distance from the Denfert-Rochereau RER station, which is more to the East than the métro station of the same name. In any case, the closest métro isn't Glacière, it's Saint-Jacques.
