rentals in Provence
Hi everyone,
I'm new to this board but have received wonderful advice on the Italy board, so I thought I would try to get the benefit of your collective expertise!
We are planning a family trip to Provence for my parents' 50th wedding anniversary for the fall of 2004 (probably October) and are looking for a furnished house/apartment rental (2 weeks). Any tips on where to look to find something like this? We would want a 3 or 4 bedroom situation, with at least 2 bathrooms.
Any advice will be very much appreciated!

Besidea the treasury of info you can find at slowtrav.com I can report my positive experience(s) with www.francevillas.com
It was for a property much larger than you are seeking, so the specifics of the property are not all that relevant.
Best wishes,
Rex

I've never used this site, but have heard good things about www.coquelicot.com Betty1 may see this post and comment more on Coquelicot.
We rented a gite (through Gites-de-France) near Gordes several years ago, and I think renting a house
is the way to go! Everything is so close in Provence that short day trips make the whole area accessible; you will have a wonderful time!

Hi, nicsoff. As grandmere mentioned the Coquelicot site is a good one if you are looking for a house in the Luberon area. Unfortunately, the English part of the site is, and has been for some time, under construction for 2004. The only other language it is available in is German. However you might e-mail them with your requirements as they do speak good English and, in my experience, respond promptly. Their e-mail is [email protected]
Here are some other websites I've bookmarked for house rentals in this area (mostly Luberon/Vaucluse).
http://www.luberon-news.com/lbba.donut
http://www.guideweb.com/provence/lodging/indexa.php3
http://www.provence-luberon.net/

http://www.luxury-rentals.com/index.htm
http://www.leluberon.net/
http://www.gites-luberon.com/
http://www.provenceguide.com/heber.htm
http://www.maison-en-provence.com/
http://www.provencewest.com/Provence...c/PrVList.html
http://www.locationprovence.com/locaproeng/index2.html
And a couple of general sites for rentals in France and elsewhere:
http://www.gites-de-france.fr/eng/index.htm (mentioned by grandmere)
http://www.flv.fr/flv/uk/rechgeo.htm
http://www.holidayrentals.co.uk/index.htm
If you'd like to e-mail me - [email protected] - with all the particulars, I'd be happy to help you search for the "perfect" place.

Hi, We have used www.cheznous.com several times and have always been very happy. Lots of properties and you book directly with the owners. This year we have found a property on www.avignon-et-provence.com, again you book directly with the owners, the site is in English and there are one or two properties in or around Gordes. Good luck.
