rental car website?
Can anybody recommend a good website for finding decent deals on rental cars? We need a family-sized car for travel to and from the Bologna airport to Tuscany in April. Thanks much in advance!!

www.autoeurope.com
We've had good luck with them, as have many Fodorites. Lots of threads about this agency which actually brokers rentals. They also will match a lower price you might find elsewhere.

I take exception to the recommendation that Autoeurope is the best deal around. I am putting the final touches on a trip to Siena in April, the best rate I have found after trying "everybody" is directly with Avis. AutoEurope would not match their rate.

Hi Srice
Also try www.novarentacar.com and www.e-sixt.com
Hi wjk,
Does your Avis rental include insurance? It is now required in Italy.

Dear wjk
I just did a comparison.
Avis offers a Nuova Astra 4dr compact for two weeks in April for $690. However, when you add the taxes, fees and mandatory insurance it came to $1540.
AutoEurope is offering an Alfa Romeo 4 dr compact diesel (much better car) for $869, with all fees, taxes and insurance, except for the mandatory road fee of approximately US$2.45.
The car is rented from Avis.
Please be sure that you have read the fine print on your Avis offer.

We've been very pleased with www.novarentacar.com We've used them twice with no problems, no hidden fees.
Both times they were lower than any of the rental car companies and autoeurope.
We also used autoeurope once when it had the lowest price--no problems with them either.
