Next spring, we will be taking the train from Paris to a rural B&B near Beaune. We will be picking up a rental car, and wondered where best to do this - Dijon, Lyon, or maybe even Beaune? We're hoping for a direct train from Paris to the pick-up town.

AVIS and Hertz both have offices in Beaune.

We rented a car in Lyon (Avis). dropped it off in Beaune. Avis depot is not close to train station, but they drove us to the train station. I believe they arrange for pick-up at train station. Service at the beaune avis depot is probably the best we've had in Europe.
To get to Beaune, you have to take TGV to Dijon, and the local train to Beaune- 15-20 minutes. Easy to change trains in Dijon.
Lyon is a couple hr. drive to Beaune. Go through Dijon.

We use the toll free number for Autoeurope [vs. the website] for our rentals, usually from Europcar.

Don't arrive in a town like Beaune at noon or you will wait for the rental agency to reopen at 14:00.

We rented from Europcar at Gare Dijon Ville. AVIS and Hertz also have desks in the station. Drove to Beaune and back over a two-day stay. Worked out perfectly for us.
