Rental Car Pick-up, Italy

Is there a convenient location (e.g. a train station) south of Lake Como where we might change from train to rental car to travel south to Rome?

In June we are flying to Venice and then traveling by train to Verenna for a few days on Lake Como. After that we would like to travel south by rental car to Rome, siteseeing through some of the hill towns of Tuscanny.

Where are you staying near Lake Como? There are rental agents at Lecco and Como.

You could go by train to Lecco or by boat (hydrofoil) to Como. The latter would probably require a taxi from the dock to the car rental.

I remember sitting on the train when we stopped in Lecco and seeing a car agency literally next to the station. I remember remarking, "wow, here's one place with a convenient car rental". But for the life of me I can't remember what agency. Avis maybe?

Usually when you call AutoEurope you can get a good representative who will actually know how convenient rental locations are to the train stations.

Lyndell,

Did you end up renting the car in Lecco? We will be trying to do the same thing. Who did you rent from and how were they?

Thanks

Steve
