Rental Car

My husband and I are traveling to Italy for 3 weeks. We will be staying in a villa in San Gimignano for 10 days and plan on renting a car for that portion. Train the rest of our adventure.

I notice that Hertz, Avis and Budget are options. Hertz seems expensive.

Can anyone recommend one over the other?

I was thinking of a Florence pick-up/drop off before we head to Sorrento.

If Hertz I can pick-up Florence, drop in Siena/Orvieto.

If you have a "What Not to Do" story I'd love to hear it also.

Thanks!

Try Kemwell and Autoeurope for the car.

I always rent through autoeurope - they use the larger rental agencies but I have always gotten better deals. Also, get comparison prices by going through autoeurope.co.uk, autoeurope.can, as well as autoeurope.com. Sometimes this makes a difference...

Last Autumn we rented from Car Rental Express. They're a broker like AutoEurope, but they seem to use a smallish company called Car Italy and Tours. They only serve larger airports. We picked up at the Florence airport, dropped off at FCO.

Their rates are very good, insurance included. We were very satisfied.

I can't find on the website where I did the different drop off location. I may have had to write them for a quote. The rates are usually worth the effort.
