Renfe website issues

So when I try and buy tickets from renfe it always starts to take me to the site. Then I get a popup saying "undefined value" and i can't buy anything. I can't even select origin and destination locations.

I use Safari. But I also used IE and still had the same problem.

Anyone familiar with this?

I found this website helps to guide me step-by-step:

Also, our friend Maribel here also has a Renfe ticket guide on her website:

I just tried it and didn't have any problems, but I admit I didn't do the end point of sticking in a CC number, of course. I had no problem before that, including picking a date, price, ticket, etc, and the origin and dest. are picked on the first front page before you do anything, so I don't follow what you are doing. Right on the first page of www.renfe.es, you can put in an origina and dest to the box at left (compra de billetes). I used IE.

Usually popups with undefined values mean the website is down and something is wrong with it.

Christina,

I went to the main renfe page: www.renfe.es
Then I selected the route and the date. I hit enter and it brought up a list of routes and prices. I clicked in "Compra" with a shopping cart. Then it took me to a second URL that ended in "vol" and it just gave me another option to select origin and destination again. But when I try to select again it does not give any options in the drop-down.

Did you be sure to type in the security code number into the box at the bottom? It's one of those things to foil automation (you have to type in a number in script that is weird-looking).

I didn't type it in the first time, didn't see it towards the bottom, and had some problems with it repeating the same page or something.

heeney-

Not sure why it doesn't work for you. When I go to the main website, I put in a dummy booking (in the column on the left). After picking out the departure and arrival cities, and choosing a date, I click "Buscar". A second window opens up with this address:
https://w1.renfe.es/vol/indexHome.do

In this window, on the right, I get a list of trains leaving at various times for the date I chose. I can then choose the train I want, type in the verification numbers, then click "continuar".

FYI,

Yk, thanks a million for the links and help. I ended up cracking it and here is why I was having a problem:

Turns out that the website tries to send some kind of certificate to your computer to advance the screen in order to search and purchase. Safari and IE (for mac) were both just rejecting this outright and blocking me. So I switched to Firefox and noticed that it was allowing me the option to accept or reject this certificate. So I was able to select the certificate and buy by Madrid-Sevilla tickets really easy!

Thanks again!

Oh, and I was noticing that it says there are no trains available for my roundtrip day-trip to Granada in 5/12.
What gives? It says there are no trains at all for the days around there either? Have they just not posted yet?

They just haven't posted yet-too early.

I sometimes have trouble with European sites, Spanish in particular, when using IE or Safari on my mac. I switch to Firefox or Opera, and the problem disappears.

Thanks Maribel!
I'll check back later. I already reserved Alhambra tickets.
