Reliable shuttle from CDG to hotel in the 5th
Can anyone suggest a shuttle service from CDG to hotels. We will be four people and four suitcases and want to get a private shuttle that would be waiting for us when we arrive. There are alot of these on the internet but I have seen some posts with negative comments on some so I would like to use one that comes recommended first hand. About what should I pay for this service, I have one that wants $130.00 us dollars, this seems high to me.

Susan - We used Parishuttle two weeks ago. Email Mark Harris [email protected] for reservations. The four of us paid 60euros from CDG to the 7th. Upon confirmation he gives you a 800# to call while you are waiting for your baggage. There is a phone right in the baggage claim area - no money needed for the 800#. As you exit customs area we were instructed to go to door #8 and the van was there waiting for us. I was very satisfied with their service.
Regards - Tom

If you took 2 taxis, you would pay about $35.00 per cab. Cabs are always ready and waiting at the cab queue. Why mess around with a shuttle?
If you have a concern about cabs or cabbies, rest assured that they are very reliable, courteous, and professional. I've used them since my first business trip in 1982 and have used them MANY times since without a single problem.

In London, I always take a private car service from Heathrow at about half the price of a taxi, but so far I haven't heard of a similar service in Paris. I can't understand the idea of calling for a shuttle when you get there and waiting for it, and then taking other people to their hotels and still paying as much or more than a taxi would be. What am I missing here?

I haven't taken a shuttle because I prefer a taxi, but I think shuttles make most sense for 1-2 people and if you are willing to accept the fact that you are booking group transit so may spend more time waiting or in transit than with a taxi and if you want to go through that booking, calling, etc, process. I also don't understand why you want to book a private driver for only yourself with no waiting when that is exactly what a taxi is and a taxi, as others have said, will be a lot cheaper than $130 even if you need two taxis. I have never had to wait at all to get a cab at CDG and I arrive at a normal time when the international flights get in -- early morning. I think $35 is a conservative cost, it could easily cost you more, but I wouldn't expect it to cost more than $40-45 at most. From what I've heard, they do indeed have some minivan or large station wagon taxis available at the airport, although perhaps not immediately; I know some people have said they didn't have to wait long for that type of car. If you do want the luxury of a private car, you will pay more than a cab. I have reserved a private car and driver from CDG (Carey Limousine in Paris) and it was definitely not cheaper than a taxi but useful if you have multiple stops and waiting involved, which I did (I mean waiting for me at a stop within Paris before going somewhere else). That cost me about $75 an hour but that was a few years ago and the car probably wasn't big enough for 4 people and luggage. Even for a private van, that seems a little high if it involves only going directly from CDG to a hotel in central Paris, unless that is roundtrip. Parishuttle's web site quotes rates a bit higher than 15 euros per person for a party of 4 (17).
