Relatives in Asen

Just found out that my relatives live is Asen (northeast of Trondheim). We will be in Trondheim at the end of our tour and we added a day to visit our relatives. Can anyone help me with the best way to travel from Trondheim to Asen and if there is any place to stay over night in/or around Asen? Should I rent a car??? I'd love to find someplace unique to stay that last night in Norway, maybe a bed and breakfast near Asen? Thanks again!
Suzanne

Hi,

I answered your posting yesterday and I hope you got the information you were looking for.
I don't think there are any places to stay in Asen since this is a very small town. (You can't really call it a town). I found a place on the net though but I don't know what this place is like: Torsveet Feriehus, Åsen
v/ Margareth og Arne Myrås
phonenr..: +47 740 56 377
The closest places to stay is either Levanger or Stjordal (my home town). There is possible to take the train from Trondheim to Asen, but I would rather rent a car so you will be able to get around more.
Found a picture of Asen on the net:
http://www.levanger.kommune.no/foto/store/aasen.jpg
I also found an adress and email for Bed and Breakfast in Norway:
B & B Norway
Østbyfaret 9D
0690 Oslo, Norway
Phone: +47 22 27 85 09
Fax: +47 22 27 23 00
E-mail: [email protected]
I hope this is what you need, please don't hesitate to ask more questions,
Kaja

You've been very helpful already. I figured that there might not be a place to stay in Asen. I will look into the options you gave me. We will be staying at the Raddison in Trondheim. I would like to drive to Asen. Do you know how long of a drive it is? Thank you in advance,
Sincerely,
Suzanne

Hi,
The drive from Trondheim to Åsen should take about one hour. The distance is about 50-60 kilometers.
By the way, the Raddison is a very nice place to stay. It is in walking distance to "everything" .
Kaja
Thanks again for the information. I contacted the Norweigen tourist information people at norway.org ([email protected]) and they sent me a website for hotels in Norway and pointed out a place called Levanger Vertshus in Levanger, Norway. Are you familiar with this Inn (http://www.dng-hotel.com/levanger-ve...levanger.htm)? Can you estimate the travel distance from Levanger to Asen and Levanger to Trondheim? This sounds like a strange question but are the roads in Norway set up like the states or like England?
Thanks again!
Suzanne

Kaja,
Thank you so much for your help.
The place in Levanger looks charming. Although we would have to travel
further north. I am going to look into finding a place between Trondheim
and Aasen. Do you have any suggestions of unique places to stay near your
hometown? Can you give me a small bit of background on this area? Are
there "must see" spots on the road between Trondheim and Aasen??
Thanks again for your help!
I am very much looking forward to meeting my relatives. I don't know much about them, my mother knows the most. But I can't wait to see them and see how they live. What is the main industry there? I am assuming that it is farming. And this probably sounds like a real touristy question, but I am
very much involved with horses here in the states, are there Fjord ponies where you live?

Sincerely,
Suzanne C.
