Relais du Silence in Avignon
Quick question, hoping someone can help me with. My father and mother have memories of travelling in Avignon area roughly 30 years ago. Stayed at a Relais du Silence in or near Avignon. Bottled chatueaneuf du pape there. Also, big Oak tree over patio dining area. Couple of outbuildings. Small rooms, communal bathrooms. Any ideas? Looking to go myself as it sounded like an amazing place....

Dear Fulkrum, most places in 30years have changed, were sold, may be a private home or revamped with the demand for seperate bathroomns. I checked my book, "Relais du Slience" given to me in 2003. There are not many near Avignon and none fit the description. If ypou have more information like near what village I could try to figure out where.

I figured that it had changed, and the information above was the best my father could remember. Said it was out in the middle of nowhere. They stopped in hoping for food and a place to stay and got lucky.
I figured it was a long shot, but worth it nonethelss!

Ron, I wonder if it could be the Aurbrge de Noves(about maybe 12 k from Avignon.) I have longed to stay there because I'm big fan of the Artist Jean-Michel Folon. I've seen pictures of the Noves that shows his "Birdman" sculture is there.
