Recommnd great places to eat dinner around/by eiffel tower?

On our second night in Paris we plan to go up in the Eiffel tower at 10 pm or later, when it starts to twinkle. So we would like to eat dinner around the Eiffel tower that evening - it doesn't have to be right next door to the tower but no more than a 15 minute walk.

Are there any restaurants you would recommend? I would guess our budget for this dinner would be $125 or less (with at least one glass of wine each)

Thanks!

Bistrot du 7ieme is probably ~15min walk.
Small place, not too expensive, locals.

I had their 20E menu +glass wine + 1/2 bottle water for E33

Les Ombres, located at Musee du Quai Branly is a beautiful setting with a glass roof in the shadows of the Eiffel Tower.

The restaurant's website shows the menu (carte) and fixed price (menu) choices and you are able to make ressies via the website. You can keep it under $125 if you order the 38E seasonal menu or if you order from the carte and chose to forego a starter and share dessert. The gourmet menu would blow your budget entirely at 95E pp.

I've only been for lunch but loved everything about the place. The picture on the website showing the distance to the Eiffel Tower makes it look farther away than it is. I was able to see the people standing on the first level of the Eiffel Tower from the terrace at Les Ombres. http://www.lesombres-restaurant.com/...the-place.html

Café Constant, Le Florimond, Le Violin d'Ingres (might be more than your budget)

I certainly would not bother with eating in that area unless your accommodations are there as well

Maybe it's just my bad luck, but I've yet to have a good dinner in that area and paid more for it than in other neighborhoods.

Share if you find one.

Some people here have also recommended Chez Francis, whose outdoor tables have view of tower.

Love Le Florimond. The owner is charming and the food is good. Lots of Americans - I'm ok with that because I am one.

La Taverna is one of my favorites. I think it is on the rue du Champs de Mars, between avenue Bosquet and avenue Rapp. Very nice young owners and a great chef. He is a master with risotto and I once ate a strawberry risotto here that I will never forget.

Both of these are in your budget, I think you could probably get a decent bottle of wine and dinner for around $125. My last dinner at Le Florimond with a bottle of sancerre was 115 euros.

I am wondering why kerouac is not thrilled with the area, maybe because the restaurants are full of tourists? Understandably a problem for Parisians, not so much of one for us fellow tourists

Would love to hear more recommendations for restaurants to visit close to Eiffel Tower. Visitng next month. Any restaurant recommendations greatly received on here, or if you have the Dishfinders app on your iPhone then please post there so I can find them more easily. Thanks.

I do like Chez Francis, but it isn't on the same side of the river and is near place d'Alma. I don't think that is within a 15 minute walk for most people unless you are walking very fast, of course. It's about a mile away, probably, or close to it.

Since Sept '08 we've spent 4 1/2 weeks (2 trips) in that area - mostly dining in the "hood". Our three favorites are:
Le Violin d'Ingres
Fables de Fontaine
Au Bon Accueil

We "checked out" about 15 other restaurants around there and either eliminated them because the menu did not look exciting (mostly standard stuff) or we dined at them (about 8) and didn't think they were as good as the three above (overcooked fish, etc).

Café Constant is excellent and reasonably priced (at least for lunch).

It's under a ten minute walk from the Eiffel Tower.

Christian Constant's other restaurants in the same immediate area are highly regarded by many, but I haven't eaten at them.

Le Clos des Gourmets, plus all the others mentioned, except for au Bon Accueil, which lost its chef some time ago.

Stu, I'd be interested in the restaurants you've crossed off your list, as least as much as the ones that passed the test of time.
