Recommendations for apt in London

My wife and I and a friend are travelling to London in late October. My wife and I have stayed in B&B's and apt in Europe before and love the local feeling, also saving money!

I am looking for recommendations for furnished apts. We are taking the train at the end of our trip to Paris, so something near to Kings Cross or an easy tube would be great.

My brit friends have recommended that pubs can be a great place to stay, but they generally don't have websites. Any recommendations there would be appreciated also.

Pubs in London are not likely to rent rooms unlike those in small towns. Check out www.slowtrav.com. It has traveler reviews of rental units and rental agencies. You may also want to look at www.vrbo.com, rentals by owner. Personally I'm more comfortable going through an agency.

The Eurostar leaves from St. Pancras, just opposite King's Cross. But no need to stay around there. If you have a lot of luggage, take a cab. Otherwise take the tube.

King's Cross is usually not recommended for visitors. (This advice directly from our London friends.)

We stayed near Hyde Park, which is relatively close to Paddington, where it's semi-residential, with nice little restaurants. Our B&B was the Hyde Park Radnor, which was nice enough, but our quad room was really too tiny for four. There were a couple of other nice-looking little hotels/B&Bs on the same street.

P.S. Try Londontown.com for rentals.

Thanks for the recommendations. I will look at furnished apartments.

We are taking the train from Paris and I am really looking forward to the ride!
