taggie, 5* in those areas seem to go for $500+ per night. I'm just afraid to go to $250-$275 and end up with a property I don't really like.
Frankly, if I could get breakfast and a nice hotel in great loc, I'd be thrilled with under $200/night.
The Rembrandt was not available for our dates.
We're considering Egerton and Kensington House, both offer breakfast. Egerton is about $350per night while Kensington is about $250.
NoSco, I agree with walkabout. I think malicious spammers need to be called out but totally understand that you were just trying to be helpful. I personally love reading B&B reviews here! (pls post if any of them are on my route, lol!)

Thanks, walkabout.
I actually did check the Travelodge sale - if the OP is interested there were rooms in Edinburgh in the £25 to £35 per night in November (I picked a random 4 night stay). The rates go cheaper as the dates get further away. I saw £9's and £12.50's later on. I'm sure they go quickly though, as mentioned above.
However, if it were me I would probably opt for a nice guest house. That being said, though the B&B I stayed at in Edinburgh was very nice, it did not quite measure up to the others on my trip. I'm not sure I'd recommend it wholeheartedly. In the future I would put location higher on the list when choosing a hotel/B&B in Edinburgh.
As for London, there were indeed no cheapo rooms in November.
Sorry Junkgalore, going off your topic here, but I did find the elusive £9 room in London. Surprisingly, it was for dates at Christmas. I'm not sure I'd want to spend my Christmas at any of them but I suppose it would be a novelty to pay only £9 for my room.
4 night stay - Dec 23, 24, 25, 26
London Southwark £22, £9, £9, £22
Covent Garden £12.50, £15, £9, £22
Waterloo £22, £9, £9, £15
London City Rd £9, £9, £9, £9
Kings Cross £15, £9, £9, £9
I went through to the final booking page on a couple so the prices were accurate. Also, the low prices appeared over 30 minutes before the scheduled start time. Chances are the real low rates are all gone by now. So Janis, as of 5:30 am or thereabouts in the UK there were at least a few £9 rooms in London.

Janisj: I did click on the Travelodge UK web site and it did show rooms for 9 lbs.(how you do the pound sign) but I didn't check on specifics, so they probably sold out real quick, I guess.
