TPAYT -

Thanks so much for all your help. I went for beauty over length of stay this time...

I have a certain fantasy about sort of blending into life there for 10 days. Eating, strolling, sitting in cafes and of course visiting all my favorite art. I imagine I'll be home alone early in the evenings and will read and relax so wanted a room that suited the experience.

I'll send your regards to Tom and Phillipe and will visit the restaurants you were so kind to mention again. I appreciate that because I really won't have a second to plan anything until I arrive. I've got a lot going on in my life right now and this trip is the light at the end of the tunnel so to speak - tonic to heal from a crazy time.

Enjoy Ireland - I love that country and the people - such a beautiful ancient place - I loved the stone circles and became obsessed with seeing as many as I could. I will keep my fingers crossed that you have good weather. But no matter, I know you will have a good time. Bring a nice weather proof coat and hat and you can do everything you planned.

Paris will always be there for next time

Thanks again for your help!!

Wow, that is a beautiful apartment. And it should be very light and bright. Makes me almost want to stay in a studio. But I'll look at other offerings from Guest Apartment Services.

Wow, that is my type of apartment, I love the furnishings etc. However, it is not my type of price range. boo hoo.

You will love staying there, hope things work out for you and the holiday is the tonic you need.

Gruezi,
We stayed in a cute little place through Guest Apartment Services three years ago. I think it's called Saffron. The agency is quite professionally run, and I'm sure you will be pleased. IMHO, one of the best bakeries in all Paris is M. Martin at 40 rue St. Louis-en-l'Ile. Be sure to try his tartines for lunch. There's also a produce market that sells freshly squeezed OJ right nearby. It's a perfect breakfast duo with M. Martin's baguettes. I'm sure you will make your way to the spectacular church, St. Louis-en-l'Ile. Try to catch an organ recital/audition there - just sublime. EJ

Hi Gruezi. We stayed last September in a 1 bedroom apt that looks like it's in the same location as the one you have chosen on the Ile.

We rented through www.parisaddress.com and the apt is ORLEA26. The bonus was the lovely little balcony that overlooked the Seine. Great spot for coffee in the morning and a glass of wine late in the day. You will never tire of that view.

Can second the restaurant recs that TPAYT menitoned as we ate at all of them and really like Au Bougnat.

Have a great trip.

FYI. Another traveler had a much different experience with ParisAddress.com. It is good to hear different perspectives on the same apartment rental firm, in much the same way that I wish to balance the anti-consumer efforts of < www.VRBO.com > and < www.RentParisNow.com > to water down or delete honest, substantiable traveler feedback about poor service or questionable business practices. Thank you.

I rented from www.beau-paris.com twice, both had good experiences.

I will go back again this November and will rent again from beau-paris.

Bank resolution of difficult experience with RentParisNow:

Citicard investigated this matter very carefully, ostensibly concluding that this agent had overcharged my account in an un-authorized manner, and had failed to justify via standard business billing. It has reimbursed me for several hundred dollars, altogether. I have written a follow-up note to VRBO.com, which earlier confirmed to me that Jose Arturo Ibarra ([email protected]) and his rental agency are under close monitoring. Moreover, I warned one apartment landlord about my torturous experience, with corroborating documentation from Citicard and VRBO, so that she is aware of this un-recommended, poor-service agent representing her wonderful apartment to innocent travelers.

Be careful. Travel safely------ideally far away from patronizing http://www.RentParisNow.com or http://www.ParisApartmentRental.biz and http://www.VRBO.com .

This is a wonderfully valuable, informative, and protective forum. Thank you.

I love the apartment that TPAYT advised you of. It looks perfect for you, I hope you have warm sunny days and cozy evenings reading good books. I am going to Paris in December and every year I long to rent an apartment, we always spend $$$ dollars on hotels and restaurant and it is just another hotel, not the feel that I would love to experience. Perhaps I should take down some addresses and check out for the next time. Have a wonderful stay.

Thanks everyone for all your good wishes. I am going through a bumpy spot and this apartment and the thought of 10 days in Paris is holding me together. I will definitely write back and let you all know how things went.

All your advice and encouragement is so very much appreciated.

Firstly, I should preface this by saying that we haven't stayed there yet, but we have booked an apartment in December through www.parisperfect.com which is run by an American woman and her French husband. All of the apartments listed on their site look fantastic, and they have been a delight to work with so far.

91010,
If this is your first Paris Perfect stay you have a great experience ahead of you. I stay in them regularly and will be there the month of November!
First class operation, in every way, with customer care and service at the very top of their list.
a bientot..

91010: I'm sure Gruezi is aware of Paris Perfect apartments as we've heard a lot about them, on the forum, over the years. Smiles. Happy Travels!

Gruezi- I'm SOOOOOO jealous, the one you picked is beautiful!! I think you will LOVE it there and it will be just what you need after your 'bumpy spot', it looks like a good place to pamper yourself. Enjoy!!!

Returntoyourseat- Oh my gosh, you just HAVE to try renting an apartment, you will probably never want to go back to staying at a hotel again! You feel like a real Parisian! The ones suggested here are very good!

izzie2, I have just made the reservation tonight for the Vienna leg of our Christmas holiday, and I went online to get some more information for the week in Paris for NYE, all ready to book a hotel and I read your post, so now here I sit once again torn between apartment and hotel but it most likely late for anything other than hotel. We are thinking of staying at the Hotel du Louve....but I have gotten off track here, I came on here to check and see if Gruezi is all set for her apartment and to have a chuckle about the PP apartment saga that actually has been going on for years, it is getting to be a bit of blather. Can't wait for a trip report Gruezi.

My daughter (18) and I stayed on Ile de la Cite for the month of June 2010 in an apartment through Paris bestlodge. It was an incredible experience for many reasons. The apartment was small but much well-equiped. Very clean, small frig, cooktop, dishwasher, clothes washer and dryer, modern shower. The view is amazing and the location convenient to everything - metro, water-taxi, Marais, Latin Quarter, Louvre etc. We felt very safe, which was important to us and saved a ton of money by alternating eating in with dining out. I would stay there again and recommend it to my family and friends.
