Really Need Some Soho Hotel Help....

My girlfriend and I are traveling to London for vacation. We will be arriving for check in on Saturday, March 26,2011 and checking out on Wednesday March 30,2011. I have done tons and tons of research on hotels throughout London and am basically starting to get desperate because we have not booked yet. The trip is coming up and we would be a great ease if we could book a room by this weekend. I have tried Priceline, LondonTown, Hotwire etc and really cant find much within my budget. These are my trip wishes, any hotel or amazing B&B help you can suggest would be great, thanks a ton:

Check in March 26, Check out March 30, 4 Nights

1 Queen or Double bed

My girlfriend is quite picky so I am really looking for something upscale and nice is possible. Coming from the US we would like a hotel, with a nice, clean, and friendly feeling.

Breakfast is not a must but definitely a big plus.

We are looking to spend approximately $1,000 USD total (including taxes and all), so approx $250USD per night. (Obviously we wouldn't mine spending less)

We are looking for an amazing tourist location, easy tube access, nice nightlife, nice neighborhood etc.... And we feel that Soho is perfect for us so I would like to find a place in there... I would be open to hearing about other places as well.

Thank you so much in advance for all your help!!!!

Here's one that is well under your budget smack in the center of Soho.

It's not fancy but clean and basic. You're paying for location here, not frills.

Strictly speaking, that's more Covent Garden than Soho, but the location meets the OP's spec.

More bang for you buck if you get away from Soho. Lots of great area's and you should get a nicer room.

If a nice property at a budget is what you want, you should look away from Soho/Covent Garden. They are very central but nice hotels will definitely come at a premium. Just about every property in central London is a quick tube journey from Soho.

You say you have 'tried' priceline and hotwire. Have you actually bid priceline and been rejected -- or did you check the straight booking side of PL? Booking through PL will seldom get a deal. The bargains are w/ the 'name your own price' option.

I strongly recommend to take a look at

http://www.tablethotels.com

It's a selection of well designed hotels in different price brackets with extensive descriptions of the hotel and atmosphere and I have found it very reliable in the past. They will also give good notes on the location and what there's to do (also dining, bars) in the surroundings of the hotels.

The Rathbone Hotel which is north of soho around Goodge Street area will not score points on being upscale but for your budget, the location is very good, being walking distance to Soho and all the restaurants around Charlotte Street and clubs in Charing Cross road. It is a small hotel tucked away in a corner, it has a cosy traditional feel. Soho Hotel is fabulous and has the style & location, alot of media people stay there but its double your budget. Charlotte Street Hotel is also really lovely, but again not within budget but great place for meals/drinks. You can walk to the Nordic Bar in Newman Street.

Try the Mountbatten (Radisson Edwardian) which is right at Seven Dials. They often run package deals so check the website and try phoning the hotel directly.

Rooms are all well-appointed, IMO, but some are small so if that is a concern, query room size. All the public areas are very good.

There's another Radisson Edwardian property right in Liecester Sq, can't remember the name but it will be on the website.
