The Pfalz is indeed beautiful. If you include the Pfalz and the piece of the Neckar valley upstream from Heidelberg, you'll have everything the Mosel offers, but with much less kms to drive. That will solve your problem for this time.

Leave the Mosel valley for your next trip (and plan a few days there, it's worth ist).

BettyK,

Thanks for the websites and all of your help. Do you live in Germany?

Quokka,

No problem. It was frustrating for me also. Thanks for your help.

No, natjgc, we do not live in Germany. In the early 1980's we lived in Vienna for a couple of years and learned a little German. Since 1999, we have visited Germany, Austria and/or Switzerland 5 times, the last one being in September 2007. It is our favorite area in Europe.

If you are interested, you can see our photo albums at www.webshots.com. Here is ou last one:

We tend to gravitate towards the small, charming little towns and places that Americans don't usually go.

Yes, artstuff wrote a great trip report. There are many great trip reports on Fodor's covering Germany.

I have several from our trips in 2005, 2006 and 2007. Don't know if they are as interesting as artstuff's (LOL) but if you wish to read them:
