Ravenna, San Marino or San leo
We are at a meeting in Ravenna in Mid-September and part of the agenda is a choice of:
Morning in Ravenna or
Morning in San Marino
and
Gradara Tour (afternoon) or
San Leo Tour (afternoon)
Help! Which should I do?

Definitely see the mosaics in Ravenna, and while you are in Ravenna, go on your own to the church of San Francesco. Go to the altar, where you will find a box that turns on a light under the altar if you insert a one euro coin. Do that. I won't spoil the surprise.
I spent a memorable afternoon in dramatic San Leo, one of Italy's most spectacular small hilltowns. I bypassed San Marino when I was in the area because I heard many times it is very touristy and kitschy, and overbuilt.
I've never been to Gradara. I hear it's lovely.

Having been to all but Gradara I'm another vote for Ravenna... which I trust wlil include a tour of the wonderful mosaics.
San Leo is small but memorable. San Marino is nice at the end of the day after all the day trippers and duty free shoppers are gone. We stayed overnite in a hotel with a view over the valley and it was lovely.
