Rain, Rain, Rain????

I've been checking weather.com for Zurich, Strasbourg, and Salzburg every day for about 10 days now, and have seen NOTHING but rain! Not "chance of rain", but RAIN every day, including the current 10 day forecast. For those of you in Europe now, is this really happening?! Are these all day rains, or do you see a few minutes of sunshine? Is this typical for this time of year? Is there any end in sight?!

There is more-than-trivial flooding in many parts of France and Germany, but it doesn't seem to be "major disaster" stage. It has been very mild and rainy across much of Europe for months now, apparently. I believe this would be relevant to Strasbourg. I have seen nothing about flooding for Switzerland or Austria. <BR> <BR>http://cnn.com/2001/WORLD/europe/fra...ods/index.html <BR> <BR>http://cnn.com/2001/WEATHER/03/21/fr...ods/index.html <BR> <BR>http://cnn.com/2001/WORLD/europe/fra...ods/index.html <BR>

Hi folks, I am in Zurich. Up to now, 2 days in March without any rain! It's very unusual, but February was extremely dry. Today, no rain (yet) and it's almost 3 pm. Wow! Wheather should improve by mid-week. Temperatures however are not bad for March. But we definitely are kind of "fed up" with this.

Glad to hear things might be improving for you. How widespread are the floods we're just starting to hear about? I see that parts of France are under water, and even Germany somewhat flooded. Our upcoming trip will include Switzerland, Germany, and Austria. We'll also touch into France (Strasbourg area), but just for the first night.

There are no new stories retrieved with the word "floods" on the http://cnn.com/2001/WORLD/europe website. <BR> <BR>"Flooding dissipates" is hardly a "reportable" story, except when a lot of people have been made homeless, and in this case, virtually no one was driven from homes. <BR>

I'm in Munich and the weather has been wet lately, but it hasn't been raining hard everyday. Today it's completely overcast but no rain so far. Yesterday was about the same although it drizzled off and on. I haven't seen much of the sun in the past few days although it does peak out now and then.

It does PEEK out now and then. Anyway, I think it was understandable, I just don't want the spelling police after me!

The stories on http://fr.fc.yahoo.com/i/intemperies.html seem to be less and less dramatic. Rouen, Paris and Grenoble. Impact of flooding on tourists likely to be minimal soon. <BR> <BR>

Here in Geneva, ducks, frogs, snails, and even fishes are staging protests against the rain that have been hitting us daily since exactly March 1st ... <BR> <BR>French TV reported this morning that floods are receeding in the Southwestern part of France (Lyon area), but Brittany is for the most part under water and the Seine in Paris will remain high for the rest of the week, so expect flooded embankments and no Bateaux Mouche for a while. Other tourists area are untouched. <BR>

Florence, bonjour! It is NOT any better in Zurich. Maybe April 1st, if it's not a "Poisson d'Avril"...
