Rail Travel in Germany

Hello guys,

I am planning to buy tickets online for my rail travel in Europe.
I am going to use my friend's credit card to buy tickets.

I read on the German rail site that you should carry your own identity proof.
Can i show my friend's credit card as identification proof while traveling in rail ?

Ofcourse i'll be carrying my passport with me,isn't that sufficient ?

Thanks,
Akshay

If you buy the train tickets with your friend's credit card then you must show that credit card to the conductor. I doubt that anyone will care about your passport once you go through immigration at the airport.

I'm sure you don't need to be told that you shouldn't use your friend's card to buy tickets, nor carry it for ID, even if you have your friend's permission. The card remains the property of the bank and if they knew someone else was using the card they wouldn't be happy.

Far better for your friend to buy the tickets for you.

What's the difference between Akki sitting at the computer buying tickets and Akki's friend sitting at the computer buying tickets. How the heck could the bank possibly know who's clicking the purchase box and printing the tickets.

I agree the bank won't know who's buying the tickets, but a card should only be used by the account holder. It's giving another person access to your credit card. Which is why the responsible course of action is for the OP's friend to buy the ticket.
