DB Bahn ticket purchase help needed!
Hello there!
Yesterday I booked a ticket for 2 adults (Amsterdam-Berlin for 22 Sept 2010). I paid for it and wrote only my personal data and credit card to be used as an identification card.
As it says on the Bahn website only the person whose personal data is stated may use the ticket... and what about the second traveler? Where shall I specify his personal data? Or will he travel as my accompanying passenger?
I will appreciate any help or advice.
I understand that the question may seem a bit stupid but its my first Europe trip and first experience of booking any European train tickets.
Thank you in advance.

Every time, I have bought two tickets and just answered the questions they gave me. I don't remember the exact details of the Bahn website, but if you were only asked for your details, I'm pretty sure that's all you need to provide. I tend to think that's what I did also.
Did you get self-print tickets, or are they being mailed?

The second person is your accompanying traveller and no one cares who he or she is. Your ticket and your card (make sure you carry the very same credit card you paid the tickets with) will be checked with some kind of scanner on board the train during the ride. They ask for the personal data to prevent clever computer users from creating fake tickets, simply to ensure that the ticket(s) you hold have actually been paid for. That is all. There are no such things as passenger lists (like on flight) and railway companies are not interested to know who is travelling with them, as long as the tickets have been paid.

Hi,
Just a small and quick correction to quokka's post above --
You designate a credit card to use for identification when you purchase, but you do not have to designate "the very same credit card you paid the tickets with." I normally buy tickets at DB with one credit card, but when I travel, that cc is in a hidden wallet. So I always designate another cc as my identification. It's always worked fine.
I believe you've already gone through these steps, but this note is for others who may read this in the future --

When I purchased my DBhan tickets (Munich-Paris) a few months ago I used my husbands credit card and put him as the applicant & myself as the accompaning passenger so that was easy - we both have the same surname, address, etc., etc.
The only details about us other than that was our ages as this allowed us a special rate as we are over 60. Well, anyway my tickets say " Europa Spezial" but I think that is to do with the fact I booked early.
I also ticked the box for the tickets to be mailed to my home address so that I could make quite sure they were correct.
This took about 10-15days to receive (but then I do live in Africa!).
Looking at my tickets this very minute, I see there are NO NAMES on them -
only the train number, station, time, seat numbers and of course, coach number.
Lastly, please be aware of the arrival time and departure time if you are changing trains anywhere along the journey.
Our one change over is only 7 minutes but luckily it is on the opposite platform. But still, get the heck off the train and board any coach on the other train and then try and find your correct seat. Those trains leave dead on time and there's no mucking about!
