Quick Trips from Milan
We have a few days to explore after a Milan-based business trip. Have already done major Italian cities, Cinque Terre, and Lake Como on other trips and am looking for suggestions for overnight or day trips from Milan. Thinking about Bologna or Parma, but am open to other suggestions.
Eating will be a primary focus, so any recommendations in that area (especially cheese) much appreciated.

Missem,
My favorite destination near Milan is Lugano, Switzerland. It's only about an hour north, but a world away. The food will still be Italian, the scenery will look like the Mediterranean (red tile roofs, palm trees), but there is a clean, safe punctual Swiss feeling to the place.
Take a ferry ride to Morcote or Gandria, stroll along the lakeside promenade, eat at a grotto, take a side trip to Bellinzona to see the castles, take the funicular up Monte Bre, etc, etc...

You could always do the Parmeggiano cheese tour
Other possibilities?
- 'Bernina Express' (St Moritz)
- Verona, Vicenza,
- Lake Garda
- Lake Maggiore
- Lake Orta
- Dolomites
- Italian Riviera
- Valle d'Aosta
... to name a few. Hope this helps.
